WARM-UP [SCRAMBLE]

Each team member is required to record four tee box drives during the round. After a drive is selected the next shots are made from that chosen spot. The team continues to choose and play from the best location collectively until they reach the green.  Once the ball has reached the green all team members are able to participate until the ball is holed out. The total score of the hole is record as the team score. This is continued for the entire round.

 

ABEGWEIT CUP – ROUND ONE [HIGH/LOW SCORE]

This round is a two man team event. The two matched teams will compete head to head in match play. In this round each player will play their own ball throughout the match. At the end of each hole, seek the scores from each team will be identified as the high score for the hole or the low score for the hole.  The high scores from each team are then compared to determine who has the lower of the high scores for that hole.  The winner is awarded a point.  Likewise the low scores from each team are compared and the lowest of the low scores is the winner of the hole and is awarded a point.  In the event of a tie in scores for a hole in either the high or low game a half point is awarded to each competitor.

ABEGWEIT CUP – ROUND TWO [ALTERNATE SHOT]

This round is a two man team event. The two matched teams will compete head to head in match play. In this round, each player will tee off their own ball. On the second shot, the teammates will switch and hit each others first shot. For the third shot the teammates will choose the best shot and finish the hole with that ball by taking alternate shots. The players whose second shot are chosen will not take the third shot but the fourth, if necessary. This is the format when playing par 4 and par 5 holes. In the event of a par 3 hole the chosen ball to finish will is made after the first shots instead of the second shot. At the end of the hole, the team with the lowest score will win the the hole and receive two points. If the hole is tied, both teams will receive a single point for the hole. This play will continue for the entire 18 holes.

ABEGWEIT CUP – ROUND THREE [INDIVIDUAL]

This round is an individual match play event. The two matched individuals will complete head to head in match play. In this round, each player will play their own ball throughout the 18 hole round. At the end of each hole the player with the lowest score will win the hole and one point. If the hole is tied, both players with halve the hole and receive half a point each.

CABOT CUP – SHORT GAME COMPETITION [INDIVIDUAL]

This side competition will be divided in to 2 parts and test your individual skills in chipping and putting, the 2 key ingredients to a great short game. 
 
CHIPPING SKILLS CHALLENGE:
  • Each participant will attempt three 10-15 yard shots at the scoring hole. All shots will be measured from the center of the hole with a string clearly marking the scoring rings. Each of the 3 shots will be taken from a different starting point marked around the edge of the green.
  • A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the higher of the two point rings.
  • In the event of a tie the contestant’s third chip will serve as a tie breaker (followed by second and first if necessary).
  • The players score will be the total score of all 3 chipsScoring will be calculated as follows:

     

    • 1pt   A ball finishing more than 20’ from the hole
    • 2pts   A ball finishing 15’ – 20’ from the hole
    • 5pts   A ball finishing 10’ – 15’ from the hole
    • 10pts   A ball finishing 5’ – 10’ from the hole
    • 15pts   A ball finishing 2’ – 5’ from the hole
    • 20pts   A ball finishing 2’ or nearer to the hole
    • 25pts   Hole in One
 
 
PUTTING SKILLS CHALLENGE:
  • Each participant will attempt one putt from each distance (6 feet, 15 feet and 30 feet). Putts will be measured from the center of the hole with a string clearly marking the scoring rings.
  • A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the higher of the two point rings.
  • In the event of a tie the contestant’s third putt will serve as a tie breaker (followed by second and first if necessary).
  • The players score will be the total score of all 3 puttsScoring will be calculated as follows:

     

    • 1pt   A ball finishing more than 10’ from the hole
    • 2pts   A ball finishing 7’ – 10’ from the hole
    • 5pts   A ball finishing 5’ – 7’ from the hole
    • 10pts   A ball finishing 3’ – 5’ from the hole
    • 15pts   A ball finishing 1’ – 3’ from the hole
    • 20pts   A ball finishing 1’ or nearer to the hole
    • 25pts   Hole in One
